UPDATE: Jason Kubel has officially be added to the 25-man roster. The Twins had one spot available on their 40-man roster, so he gets it. With Eduardo Escobar and Josmil Pinto expected to win roster spots, that leaves one spot on the bench for Jason Bartlett, Chris Colabello or Chris Parmelee to grab.

Also, the Twins have signed Matt Guerrier to a minor league contract and reported to Class AAA Rochester. Guerrier, however, will remain at extended spring training once camp breaks and continue to pitch there until he feels he's 100 percent ready. Then he'll join Class AAA Rochester.

Guerrier has a out clause in his contract (sometime before June 1) that allows him to become a free agent if he hasn't been called up. Guerrier gave up three earned runs over four innings.

It rained off and on all night, really coming down around 3 a.m., and there was more rain in the forecast this morning. So there were concerns about today's game being delayed.

That wave of rain stayed to the south, but the Twins are left to deal with the aftermath of last night's storm.

Hammond Stadium is in fine shape. But the minor league fields aren't. The Twins wanted to send Mike Pelfrey (whose game was washed out yesterday) to pitch in a minor league game, but that can't happen now. So Pelfrey is going to start today against Baltimore and be followed by Scott Diamond, who will be followed by Kyle Gibson. Not the optimal situation for Diamond, if he does, indeed have a chance to win a spot on the roster.

I'm guessing here that Pelfrey and Diamond, and maybe Gibson will head to the bullpen after their outings to throw more pitches to build up endurance.

The relievers the Twins wanted to use today will participate in something that part simulation part scrimmage (scrimmulation?) on whichever field is not too water-logged.

The White Sox have a scout here today, doing advance work for next week's opening series. Sounds like the White Sox are throwing Chris Sale, Erik Johnson and Jose Quintana at the Twins in the three game series at U.S. Cellular Field.

Maybe after the game we'll get more closure on the roster. One pitcher, one catcher and two position players need to be cut before the Twins head north.
