In an age when MTV would rather crush our channel-flipping souls with shows like "Jersey Shore" and "The Hills," it continues to amaze me that musicians still put out music videos. But I'm glad they do.

Case in point: Minneapolis hip-hop crew, Doomtree, continues its conquest of YouTube screens with recent videos from Dessa and Mike Mictlan.

In anticipation of her new album, "A Badly Broken Code," Dessa released "Dixon's Girl" earlier this month. The slickly-produced video features some great Prohibition-era cars and costumes (plus some crazy masks).

In December, Mictlan released an ultra-stylized video for the song "Prizefight" from his 2008 "Hand Over Fist" album (with Lazerbeak). To accompany the explosive beat and Mictlan's gruff delivery, director Greg Hubacek created some surreal, how'd-they-do-that special effects.
