Friday 2/17

Natural snow may be in short supply, but the guitars and do-gooder vibes will be piled on thick at this charity event for Courage Center's ski and snowboarder program for people with disabilities at Trollhaugen resort (about an hour northeast of the Twin Cities). Los Angeles' underrated orchestral alt-rock band Airborne Toxic Event, above, part Arcade Fire and part Foo Fighters, will headline the event on tour behind "All at Once," produced by recent Band of Horses collaborator Dave Sardy. A more poseur-ish L.A. group, New Wavey dance-rock act Shiny Toy Guns, also performs, along with at least one band that will know its way down the slopes -- local favorites Tapes n' Tapes, who tore up the Current's birthday party two weekends ago. Ticket price includes night skiing.
