Dust off the bug spray. Oil the lawn chairs. One of Minneapolis's most popular outdoor festivals returns to Loring Park next summer.

Walker Art Center's free Summer Music & Movies in the Park, a Twin Cities warm weather fixture as beloved as ice cream, picnics and swimming pools, returns following a year's hiatus.

The program, which began in 1973, will be smaller than before. The mini-palooza runs just four weeks (Aug. 1, 8, 15 and 22) and the lineup of films and local bands won't be unveiled until May.

The Walker, producing the series in association with radio station 89.3 The Current, did drop one tantalizing tidbit, however. The final show will move from Loring Park to the Walker's green space for a silent film/live band songs-and-cinema mashup.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
