No No: A Dockumentary

Wednesday: It's one of the weirdest baseball stories of all time. On June 12, 1970, the Pittsburgh Pirates' Dock Ellis pitched a no-hitter against the San Diego Padres while tripping on LSD. "No No: A Dockumentary (⋆⋆⋆, unrated, in English and subtitled Spanish) opens with the confession, "I pitched every game in the major leagues under the influence of drugs," World Series and All-Star game included. Jeffrey Radice's lively, incisive film examines the quirks of a militant, world-class black athlete who fit nobody's mold. It examines how and why Ellis became one of the most important players in terms of race issues in sport since Jackie Robinson. With a bouncy score by Mark Knopfler.
