Authorities have identified the motorcyclist killed in northeast Minneapolis Monday when a Minneapolis School District delivery truck pulled into her path.

Becky Arita Nelson, 56, of Coon Rapids, ran into the side of a truck when it pulled in front of her at the intersection of University and 7th avenues NE., authorities said. The truck had a stop sign, while Nelson had the right of way, police said.

Officers provided medical attention to the motorcyclist until paramedics arrived. She was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, where she died from her injuries.

The driver of the truck, school district employee Mohamed A. Mumed, 36, of Brooklyn Park, stopped immediately and was cooperating with investigators, police said. Mumed was not injured.

District spokeswoman Gail Plewacki said the driver was delivering food to a school at the time of the crash.

Mumed was properly licensed for the vehicle he was driving, a state Department of Public Safety official said.
