Motorcycle driver killed in southeastern Minnesota crash

A 55-year-old Lonsdale man died Friday night in southeastern Minnesota after his motorcycle went off the road and crashed.

Joseph Simek was driving eastbound on Hwy. 60, east of Zumbro Falls in Wabasha County, when he lost control of the motorcycle and crashed off the road, according to the State Patrol. He was wearing a helmet and no alcohol was detected.

It's one of at least three motorcycle fatalities in Minnesota this month. Last week, a 23-year-old motorcyclist died after colliding with a car in Columbia Heights. On July 2, a 54-year-old motorcyclist died in St. Francis after being broadsided by a pickup truck.
