A motorcycle crossed the center line north of the Twin Cities and struck a car coming the other way in a collision that killed both riders, authorities said Sunday.
The crash occurred shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday on Hwy. 47, just north of St. Francis, Minn., according to the State Patrol.
Killed in the collision were motorcycle operator Steven C. Gohr, 61, and passenger Anita R. Kemp, 47, a couple from Andover, Minn.
In the car was a family from Cambridge, Minn., parents and two daughters, the patrol said. All were taken to a hospital with injuries and expected to survive.
The motorcycle was traveling south on Hwy. 47 near 253rd Avenue NW., when it crossed into the path of the northbound car driven by Daniel B. Higley, 42, of Cambridge, the patrol said.
The impact threw the two on the motorcycle from the vehicle.
The patrol has yet to say if the two who were killed were wearing helmets.
