Two acts we've seen on TV screens more than on stage in recent years, Alanis Morissette and Meat Loaf, each announced Twin Cities dates on their fall tours today.

Morissette, who still holds the record for the biggest-selling debut album by a female artist (sorry, Gaga), will perform at the State Theatre on Oct. 12. Tickets go on sale Friday at 11 a.m. for $81.50, $71.50 and $51.50. Her first album in four years, "Havoc and Bright Lights," comes out Aug. 28. This will be the Canadian songstress' first time back on the road since becoming a mom in 2010. Of late, she has proven her surprisingly comedic acting chops on the TV shows "Weeds" and "Up All Night."

Meat Loaf has been all over the tube, too, from "Glee" to "House, M.D." to his hosting duties on "Don't Forget the Lyrics." He will perform again Oct. 19 at Mystic Lake Casino's showroom. Tickets go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. for $69 and $59. The real-life Michael Lee Aday, 64, put out a new Meat Loaf album with another hellish title in March, "Hell in a Handbasket." You might've missed that one.
