More Rain for the Deep South

Rain will spread eastward over the Deep South overnight and Wednesday.Rain and drizzle will break out before daybreak, Wednesday, in the mild, dampair over eastern Texas, Louisiana and southern Mississippi.

A little rain will extend northward over colder air into Arkansas and northernMississippi.

During Wednesday, a wetting rain will spread eastward near the Gulf Coast inareas from New Orleans to Mobile to Pensacola. Rainfall may exceed 1 inch byevening, as some of the rain will fall rather hard. A little thunder andlightning could arise as well.

The eastern, leading edge of rain will reach the south Atlantic coast in thearea of Savannah, Ga., in the afternoon. At night, northern Florida, southernGeorgia and even southern South Carolina will be target of this rainy weathersystem before it glides out to sea early on Friday.

Meanwhile, spotty, lighter rain will stretch northward on Wednesday into chillyair covering Tennessee. A bit of wet snow or sleet could even fall along theKentucky line.
