There have been several reports in recent weeks (or months) that Washington Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb could end up playing for the Vikings next season.

McNabb's days in Washington appear numbered and the Vikings obviously have a need at quarterback. One argument would be the Vikings could draft a quarterback and allow him (and Joe Webb) to learn and develop a few years while McNabb finishes his career.

The Washington Post reported Monday that the Vikings interest in McNabb is mutual, according to two unnamed sources. It's important to remember that no player moves can take place during the lockout and teams might be willing to just wait and see if/when Washington releases McNabb after a new collective bargaining agreement is in place.

Here is part of the Post report:

"If McNabb is still on Washington's roster the day after the first regular season game, the Redskins would have to decide whether to pick up the $10 million option on his contract. His base salary for 2011 would be $1.75 million, but if he is on the 53-man squad the entire season, McNabb could receive a total of $12.75 million.
"It is believed that McNabb would be willing to give back the $3.5 signing bonus he received last fall in exchange for his release."
