A mobile home park in southern Minnesota was fined $11,435 for mismanaging its sewage-treatment system and burning garbage, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency announced this week. Oronoco Estates, 4 miles north of Rochester, violated its wastewater-treatment permit by failing to properly stabilize wastewater ponds, monitor water levels and submit regular reports, according to the agency. The mobile home park neglected to monitor for bacteria and nitrogen in the wastewater sprayed on land. The agency found Oronoco Estates also burned debris containing plastics and chemically treated material in violation of solid waste laws. Oronoco Estates agreed to come into compliance.
