July 24, 2013 at 11:08AM

The board overseeing Minnesota's health insurance exchange is getting an update on plans for promoting the state's online marketplace.

When the MNsure board holds its regular meeting Wednesday, members will hear from Executive Director April Todd-Malmlov on the exchange's marketing, outreach and consumer engagement efforts.

MNsure already has a website where consumers and businesses can get information. MNsure plans to start running broadcast, print and online advertising in the next few weeks to further raise consumer awareness.

About 1.3 million Minnesotans are expected to get coverage through MNsure under the federal health care overhaul, including 300,000 who currently don't have health insurance. The call center goes live Sept. 3, open enrollment begins Oct. 1 and coverage takes effect Jan. 1.
