Minnetonka 2, Hill-Murray 1, 4OT final.

We have a winner!

March 13, 2010 at 6:27AM

Minnetonka sophomore Erik Baskin scored 2 minutes, 31 seconds into the fourth overtime, giving the top-seeded Skippers a 2-1 victory over Hill-Murray in the Class 2A boys' hockey semifinals and earning them a spot in Saturday night's championship game against Classic Lake rival Edina.

Technically, that's today, since by my watch the winning goal was scored at 12:19 a.m.

An amazing game that lasted 86 minutes, 31 seconds ... it fell less than 7 minutes shy of being the longest game in state tournament history. That distinction still belongs to the historic Apple Valley victory over Duluth East in 1996.

We've wrapped up here ... The P.A. Announcer just signed off by saying, "Thank you and good morning."

What a day, and what a night, and what a morning. We'll have more on this game online once we get a chance to catch our breath.
