While Rodney Williams, Austin Hollins and Joe Coleman were combining for ZERO points in Wednesday night's Minnesota loss at Nebraska, a pair of ex-Gophers were having big nights for their new teams.

Tubby Smith-transfers Colton Iverson and Justin Cobbs combined for 53 points. Iverson scored a career high of 29 as Colorado State went to Wyoming and ruined that school's Senior Night in a 78-56 victory.

Matt L. Stephens of the Coloradan.com wrote: "Wednesday was Senior Night for Wyoming, but CSU must not have received the memo. It was the Rams' seniors who stole the show in their final trip to Arena-Auditorium, led by Colton Iverson. To put it kindly, he was unstoppable. Iverson dominated in the paint for Colorado State University, tying a Mountain West single-game record for baskets without a miss, as the Rams cruised to a 78-56 victory."

Here's the full story.

Gulp.

Meanwhile, Cobbs scored 24 points for Cal in an 83-71 loss to Stanford. Here's the game report from the San Francisco Chronicle.

Big gulp.

Cobbs was named Big 12 Player of the Week a little while back. Cobbs is second in scoring for Cal at 15 points per game and leads the Bears with 4.8 assists per game. Here are his game-by-game stats. Iverson is leading Colorado State in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots.

Today happens to be the one-year anniversary of when Iverson spoke to Star Tribune college basketball writer Amelia Rayno about his decision to leave Minnesota. It was tough sitting on the sidelines and watching, he told Rayno.

But he explained: "I just felt I had more to offer to a program. I don't regret going to Minnesota at all; I learned a lot and we had a lot of great moments, winning in Puerto Rico last year and our great run in the Big Ten tournament (in 2010). Those are moments I'll never forget. … But I mean, I started more games as a freshman than I did as a junior and I just felt like I wasn't really progressing."

Looks like that's not the case anymore.
