State Sen. Jeffrey Hayden’s sister was fatally shot early Saturday outside an Atlanta bar, according to a Facebook posting by the legislator.

“It is with a heavy heart that I report that my sister Taylor Hayden has been killed last night in Atlanta. She was caught in the crossfire of two rival gangs at a local nightclub. Please pray for my family,” Hayden wrote on his personal Facebook page.

Taylor Hayden, 25, was shot around 5 a.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the Anchor Down Grille & Lounge in northeast Atlanta, according to law enforcement officials. She was taken to an area hospital, where she died.

No one has been arrested and police were not saying more about motive. They are continuing their investigation.

A representative for Hayden did not return a request for comment Saturday.

Hayden, DFL, represents District 62, which includes south Minneapolis.
