Gophers sophomore forward Taylor Uhl, one of the leading scorers in the nation in women's soccer, has decided to transfer.

"I'll always be a Gopher fan at heart," she tweeted. "Thanks to everyone at the U who has helped me in my time here. Trusting God through this new journey."

Last month Uhl, of Eden Prairie, was named the team's offensive MVP for the second year in a row. She tied for first in the nation with 21 goals and had nine assists to lead the nation in points with 51. Uhl was a first-team, all-Big Ten pick.

"I respect and understand Taylor's decision to transfer," said head coach Stefanie Golan, who was hired last June, in a news release. "We wish her the best as she continues her education and athletic career elsewhere."

U wins in baseball

The Gophers used a four-run seventh inning to beat Augsburg 4-1 in a nonconference baseball game. Mark Tatera had a pinch-hit two RBI double for Minnesota (23-13) in its big inning.
