Two victories from freshman goaltender Eric Schierhorn, including his first career shutout, and a four-point weekend from junior defenseman Michael Brodzinski earned the pair of Gophers hockey standouts recognition from the Big Ten Conference.

Schierhorn was named the Big Ten First Star of the Week, while Brodzinski was the Second Star. Penn State's Chase Berger was named Third Star.

Schierhorn led all Big Ten goalies with a .941 save percentage, a 1.50 goals-against average and two victories this weekend in a sweep over Northeastern. He made 23 saves in Friday's 4-0 victory over the Huskies to pick up his first career victory, then made 25 saves Saturday in a 4-3 series-clinching victory.
