Three wrestlers for the Gophers finished runners-up Saturday in the Cliff Keen Invitational in Las Vegas. They were Jake Short at 149 pounds, Brett Pfarr at 197 and Michael Kroells at heavyweight.
In a field with 12 ranked teams, the Gophers took third with 105 points, trailing Missouri (154) and Cornell (113).
Concordia upset
Wayne State upset Concordia (St. Paul) 25-16, 26-24, 25-10 in the championship match of the NCAA Division II Central Region at the Gangelhoff Center.
Elizabeth Gebhardt and Katie Hughes led the Wildcats (27-2) with 14 and 13 kills, respectively.
Riley Hanson and Emma Lange had 12 kills for the Golden Bears (29-5), the NSIC regular-season and tournament champion and a seven-time consecutive national champion most recently in 2013.
Concordia had a 15-match winning streak ended by Wayne State, which finished in fourth in the NSIC standings.

• Minnesota Duluth defeated Fort Hays State 30-22 in the Mineral Water Bowl in Excelsior Springs, Mo. Sophomore Nate Ricci threw three touchdown passes for the Bulldogs (9-3) and Andrew Brees kicked three field goals .
•  Gophers diver Matt Barnard set a school record in winning the 3-meter event with 446.40 points at the university's Jean K. Freeman Invitational.
