After scoring a season-high five goals in its last game, Minnesota United FC was shut out Saturday night.

Indy Eleven, the North American Soccer League spring champion, beat the Loons 1-0 at Carroll Stadium on Dylan Mares' goal in the 78th minute.

United (1-1-0 fall), which routed Carolina 5-1 in its fall opener, lost for the third consecutive time on Indy Eleven's home field. The teams play again Saturday at the National Sports Center in Blaine. Their head-to-head series is now tied at 4-4.

The Loons led 12-7 in total shots and had a 5-4 edge in shots on goals. Jon Busch had the shutout.

Indy Eleven (1-0-1), which has not lost an NASL game this season, was coming off a 1-1 tie with Puerto Rico FC. It was 4-0-6 in the spring season.

The home team scored a minute into the match but the goal was disallowed because of an offside call. The Loons also had a goal reversed in the 18th minute. Aaron Pitchkolan headed it into the net off a free kick by Kevin Venegas. Offside was the call again.

Late in the opening half, Christian Ramirez took a penalty shot, but Busch deflected it.
