Minnesota United announced Friday that it will face Costa Rican side Deportivo Saprissa in an exhibition at 7 p.m. on July 11 at TCF Bank Stadium.

Saprissa, the former club of Loons team captain Francisco Calvo, recently won the top league in Costa Rica. Loons midfielder Johan Venegas, who is on loan there, scored five goals in the regular season.

Saprissa is doing a bit of an American tour for its preseason. It will face the Columbus Crew on July 3. In last season's exhibition against Mexican club Atlas, a 1-1 draw, the Loons fielded a mainly reserve lineup.
