Natalie Darwitz, who led Hamline's women's hockey team to its best season in 2017-18, was announced as the USCHO.com Division III women's coach of the year.

In Darwitz's third season, the Pipers went 22-5-3, won their first MIAC tournament postseason title and finished third in the national tournament.

Darwitz, a former U.S. Olympian and Gophers star, is the second Pipers coach ever to win a national Coach of the Year award. Doug Byrnes (gymnastics) received the honor last month, and Dick Tressel (football) was cited in 1984.
