The Gophers softball team improved to 17-3 — the best 20-game start in school history — with a 6-2 victory over Drake on Sunday in the team's final game at Oklahoma State's Mizuno Classic in Stillwater, Okla.

Gabe Grunewald of Team USA Minnesota placed 10 in the women's 3,000 meters at the world indoor track championships in Sopot, Poland. Grunewald's time of 9 minutes, 11.76 seconds was more than 16 seconds behind winner Genzebe Dibaba of Ethiopia (8:55.04). Grunewald's Team USA Minnesota teammate, Heather Kampf, was disqualified for a lane violation after taking eighth in the 1,500.
