Minnesota's largest beer distributor expands reach

J.J. Taylor, Minnesota's largest beer distributor, announced Tuesday that it has agreed to acquire Chisago Lakes Distributing for an undisclosed price in a deal that expands Taylor's geographic distribution area and its brand portfolio.

Chisago Lakes, which has 35 employees, distributes beers from Pabst Brewing, Summit Brewing and other beermakers. Its turf includes Chisago County and most of Anoka, Hennepin and Ramsey counties. It has 30,000 square feet of warehouse space.

J.J. Taylor has distribution operations in Minnesota and Florida. In this state, it has 230 employees and a 600,000-square-foot warehouse in northeast Minneapolis. It distributes products for MillerCoors, Summit, August Schell, Heineken and others.
