Attention, David Bowie fanatics: A lush cover of "Quicksand" by Allison LaBonne's and Brian Tighe's chamber-duet group the Starfolk tops off a regal new compilation record from the artist-run co-op label Korda. Titled "Korda Komp 3" and available at kordarecords.com, the collection of melancholy melody makers also includes the Ocean Blue, Jim Ruiz Set and Hang Ups co-founder Jeff Kearns' new band Deep Pool — all of whom will perform for the release party Friday at 7th Street Entry (8 p.m., $12-$17). …

Probably the biggest local Bowie tribute yet is set for next weekend, March 25, when local spin master Jake Rudh pays tribute to the late icon to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Rudh's Transmission dance parties at First Avenue. …

What a charmer this one is. Fahey sounds like a free-association songwriter version of Tom Petty over richly textured, Dylan-meets-Feelies Americana arrangements in such wry, wordy gems as "The Drunken Prisoner of Circumstance." …
