Japan attacked the U.S. Naval Base at Pearl Harbor in the Hawaiian Islands on Dec. 7, 1941, killing more than 2,400 Americans and injuring more than 1,100. Eighty-four Naval Reservists from Minnesota were on active duty at the time, Pawlenty's proclamation said. MARY LYNN SMITH
