Brainerd area: Overall, the fishing has been decent in the region. Anglers are having success on Gull Lake, North Long Lake and Whitefish Lake for walleyes. Gull, Nisswa, Margaret and North Long lakes have been a good bet for bass. North Long, Round and Whitefish lakes are producing crappies on the 12- to 15-foot weed lines.

Detroit Lakes area: Although some walleyes are being caught in less than 10 feet, most are being taken with leeches or night crawlers in 16 to 20 feet on Big Cormorant Lake, Big Detroit Lake, Lake Sallie, Lake Melissa, Pelican Lake and Upper Cormorant Lake. The weed lines on Big Detroit Lake and Pelican Lake are producing muskies, according to Quality Bait and Tackle.

Fairmont area: Amber Lake, Budd Lake and Hall Lake in Fairmont have seen a good crappie bite. Budd and Lake Sisseton (in Fairmont) have produced sunfish in 3 to 6 feet. Tuttle Lake, southwest of Fairmont, has had an evening walleye bite. Fox Lake (near Sherburn) has had a limited muskie bite.

Lake Waconia: Crappies, sunfish, and bass have been biting in 12 to 15 feet. Walleyes are being snagged with minnows or leeches in 16 to 20 feet in Kegg's Reef, North Reef and Red's Reef. The muskie bite has been limited but has improved over the last week. The northern pike bite has picked up some the past few weeks.

Leech Lake: The muskie bite is improving in Walker Bay on the lake's west side, but overall, the main part of the lake has been slow. With water temperatures in the low 70s, as of Monday afternoon, the trolling bite is improving. The weeds in Portage and Sucker bays on the north side of the lake have been producing some muskies.

Paynesville area: Long Lake, Cedar Island Lake, Becker Lake, Pearl Lake and Horseshoe Lake are producing sunfish and some crappies in 6 to 10 feet, and bass fishing remains strong on most lakes. Lake Koronis is a good option for walleyes in weed edges during lowlight periods or in 20 to 25 feet during the day. The Sauk River chain is producing catfish in 4 to 12 feet.
