Annandale: Clearwater, Cedar, and Granite have been the best lakes for walleye action at 15-20 feet using nightcrawlers or leeches on spinner rigs. Bass are taking plastic worms or spinner baits over the top of weeds at six feet or less on Clearwater, John and Sylvia. Clearwater and Pleasant have provided the best northern action along weed lines using sucker minnows.

Northeast metro: Anglers are catching some walleyes on the St. Croix River near the Prescott, Wis., area using jigs and minnows at 25-30 feet or Bald Eagle Lake at 8-10 feet using fathead minnows. White Bear Lake is also producing a few walleyes using crankbaits. Bass are active on most area Lakes.

Lake Winnibigoshish: Some anglers are working the Bena Bar and the Center Bar at 18-26 feet for walleyes using Lindy Rigs with nightcrawlers or leeches. Others are using spinner baits or jigs and minnows at shallow depths, working the weed edges at 8-12 feet. Northerns and perch also have been active.

Lake of the Woods: Walleye action has remained steady with anglers pulling spinners with nightcrawlers or leeches at 8-17 feet near the south shore or islands. A jig and a minnow also is working on reefs at 15-30 feet. During the evenings, anglers are trolling crankbaits at shallow depths for walleyes and northerns. Up at the Northwest Angle, anglers are finding walleyes at depths ranging from six to 30 feet, pulling spinners with minnows or leeches.

Lake Vermilion: According to Joe Kruchowski, owner of Northwoods Bait and Tackle in Cook, sporadic weather has hampered anglers a bit, but a few walleyes are being caught at 1-7 feet along weed edges using slip bobbers and leeches on Greenwood or Frazer Bay. Northerns and muskies are being caught at 38-50 feet trolling with sucker minnows on Niles Bay. Bass, crappies and bluegills have yet to spawn.

Park Rapids area: Walleyes are being caught along deeper weed lines and flats at 18-20 feet using jigs and minnows or leeches. Bass action is productive on most area lakes at 2-6 feet using a Lunkerhunt Pocket Frog lure. Northerns are taking Dardevle spoons at 5-10 feet. Crappies are being caught at 10-14 feet and sunfish at about 8-12 feet using small crappie minnows or wax worms.
