Minneapolis police are searching for a pair of suspects who carjacked a paraplegic man at gunpoint, then shot him twice.

Police say the 52-year-old man was in the driver's seat of the dark green Ford Expedition parked in front of his home in the 2900 block of Columbus Av. S. at 4:45 a.m. Monday when two men walked up to the driver's door, opened it and ordered the victim out. He was unable to get out because he cannot walk, so the suspects shot him twice, once in the chest. He fell out of the driver's seat and onto the street, and the suspect jumped into the truck, which has special controls so he can drive it, and took off.

Sometime between the time of the shooting and 9:15 a.m. Monday, the suspects abandoned the truck at the University Avenue southbound ramp off eastbound 694. The abandoned vehicle was left in the middle of the ramp, blocking traffic.

Minneapolis police detectives want to talk to anyone who saw the Expedition of the suspects who got out of the truck. The vehicle license plate is 351-HTD. Any witnesses are encouraged to call the Minneapolis Police Department at 612-673-2616, or text their tip into 847411 (TIP411). Enter MPD, a space, and then the information.
