Minneapolis police are investigating the death of a man who was found fatally wounded at an apartment in the city's Como neighborhood Saturday morning.

Police spokesman John Elder said officers responded at 6:05 a.m. to a report of "unknown trouble" at the apartment in the 900 block of SE. 15th Avenue, near Van Cleve Park.

The Como neighborhood is just north of Dinkytown and the University of Minnesota.

Officers found several people gathered at the apartment in what they described as a chaotic scene that included a confrontation between a man and a woman.

The man, who police described as being in his 30s, was suffering from a wound of unknown origin, Elder said. He was taken to HCMC, Elder said.

Police also took a 35-year-old woman from the apartment to detox.

Detectives were called in to investigate the circumstances that led to the man's injury, Elder said. Police later learned that he died in the hospital.

"After preliminary investigation, detectives removed [the woman] from detox and booked her into the Hennepin County Adult Detention Center on probable cause murder," Elder said.

"This case is still very active," Elder said, adding that once police complete their investigation, the Hennepin County Attorney's Office will review it to determine if charges should be filed.

In the coming days, the medical examiner will release the man's name and details about the cause of his death.
