Minneapolis police now have a suspect in custody in connection with the assault of a 21-month-old girl.
On Thursday, the 21-year-old man turned himself in to police after an investigation of people associated with the girl, Rae'Ana Hall. He was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault.
A hospital spokeswoman said the baby remains in critical condition. Rae'Ana's mother said she has several broken bones and is on life support. She was in the care of her father when she was injured Sunday, the mother said.
Officers were called to Hennepin County Medical Center on Tuesday by staff who treated Rae'Ana because she was suffering from severe injuries that didn't appear to be accident-related.
