Classes at Minneapolis Patrick Henry High School were canceled Thursday after an overnight fire caused damage throughout the building, school district officials said.

No injuries were reported in the fire, which broke out around 3 a.m. in a workstation in a chemistry lab, the Minneapolis Fire Department said in a tweet.

The fire, which the district called an electrical fire, was contained to one classroom, but smoke and water damage was reported in other parts of the school at 4320 Newton Av. N.

Classes will resume Friday, but athletic events and extracurricular activities are canceled through the weekend, according to an announcement on the school's website.

Students were encouraged to do online coursework if possible, but will not have to attend a makeup day.
