A Minneapolis man accused of killing his neighbor over whether he could have another drink was charged Monday with second-degree intentional murder.

Rick Martinez, 34, also known as Andrew Riyadh Terrell, is being held in the Hennepin County jail in lieu of $1 million bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.

The medical examiner's office has not yet identified the victim, who died Saturday night, a few hours after he was stabbed in his apartment in the 5700 block of 33rd Avenue S.

The criminal complaint identified the victim by his initials, T.F., and said the victim's two roommates told police they and the victim had been drinking with Martinez, who lived across the hall. The victim and Martinez had argued all day, one witness said. Another said the argument was about whether Martinez could get more to drink.

The complaint said Martinez left the room, then returned and stabbed the victim. Police found a large kitchen knife on top of a cabinet near the kitchen, the document said.

Police received another 911 call Sunday morning telling them that Martinez had returned to the apartment building and neighbors were detaining him. He was arrested there.
