A Minneapolis man will spend 45 years in prison for sexually abusing and taking pornographic videos of a 6-month-old girl.

Curtis A. Cannon, 22, received an unusual sentence that combines terms he received in state and federal courts. Last month, he was sentenced to 25 years on federal child pornography crimes. On Thursday, Hennepin County District Judge Daniel Mabley handed down a 20-year sentence and agreed to run the sentences consecutively.

"This is one of the most repulsive cases this office has seen," Deputy Hennepin County Attorney David Brown said in a news release. "If anyone deserves to spend most of his life in prison, it is Mr. Cannon, and we appreciate the fact that Judge Mabley agreed with our position."

One of those partners was the U.S. attorney's office and Assistant U.S. Attorney Laura Provinzino, who prosecuted the case in federal court and watched as Mabley pronounced the sentence in state court.

"Curtis Cannon sexually assaulted a 6-month-old baby and took pictures to memorialize the abuse," she said in the statement.

Because of Cannon's position of trust over the baby and her age, Mabley agreed to a term much higher than recommended by the state's sentencing guidelines.

According to the criminal complaint, Cannon sexually assaulted the baby and videotaped it. He admitted taking the video because he was pressured by people on a chat website.
