BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. — Minnesota military veterans looking for an edge in the job market can take advantage of a career fair designed just for them.

The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development was hosting its annual veterans-oriented career fair on Tuesday. It's part of the officially proclaimed "Hire a Veteran Month."

The event at Brooklyn Center's Earle Brown Heritage Center connects current and former military members with about 100 businesses with existing or imminent job openings.

According to the state employment agency, prior state veterans' jobs fairs have produced results. They say 10 to 15 percent of job seekers surveyed after the past gatherings say they were offered positions from contacts they made at the fair.
