MINNEAPOLIS - Minnesota comedian Dave Mordal takes a look at the extreme ways Americans amuse themselves in a new show on the Discovery Channel.

Mordal hosts "Wreckreation Nation." The show debuts Jan. 6.

Mordal, who was on NBC's "Last Comic Standing," came up with the idea for the show. In it, he travels the country looking for homegrown contests and wacky pastimes.

So far, Mordal has attended a Colorado alligator wrestling school and joined in an Iowa-Illinois tug of war across the Mississippi River. He's scheduled to be in Kasota (kuh-SOH'-tuh), Minn., on Dec. 13 and Dec. 14 for the Tank Olympics, organized by a family that stages competitions with military tanks in their back yard.
