Mike Harris evaluates his first start with Vikings

Vikings offensive tackle Mike Harris felt he held his own at right tackle in his first start this season.

Panthers defensive end Charles Johnson got one of three sacks in the Vikings' 31-13 victory on Sunday at TCF Bank Stadium.

"I thought I did OK; I did all right," Harris said. "There's definitely some things I need to work on, especially when it comes to pass rushing, but that'll come with time."

Harris replaced Phil Loadholt, who was placed on injured reserve with a torn pectoral, at the position to receive his first start since Oct. 6, 2013 with the Chargers against the Raiders. It was Harris' 13th start in his career.

He was mainly excited for the win, but Harris had a good gauge of where he stood as an offensive tackle facing Johnson all game. Harris felt he could continue to improve on his overall technique this week in preparation for the Jets.

"[Johnson's] a good guy," Harris said. "He's got a good counter move. He's got good hands. That's something I need to go back and work on, watch film and see what I can improve on. Each week there's going to be a good defensive end I've got to deal with."
