Better to just keep your mouth shutIf Marek Zidlicky really wanted to play in New Jersey, maybe the most ill-advised thing the Wild defenseman could have done is go public with that desire.

In trade talks, Devils GM Lou Lamoriello -- i.e. the Godfather -- demands secrecy. He has pulled out of talks before when it's gotten out, and just to spite Zidlicky, it would be like Lamoriello to pull the plug here.

Moving alongWild draft picks were flying around the NHL on Thursday. The second-round pick (which could be in the low-to-mid 30s because of this Wild collapse) that was traded to San Jose with Brent Burns was dealt to Tampa Bay for Dominic Moore, and the 2013 third-round pick that was traded to Philadelphia for Darroll Powe was sent to Dallas in the Nicklas Grossman trade.

Moore, by the way, has been traded three times for second-round picks. The Wild, which acquired him for a third-rounder in 2007? It lost him on waivers the next year.

Possibly moving along? With the trade deadline eight days away, Edmonton's Ryan Smyth says he won't waive his no-trade to go anywhere. The Oilers could still trade Ales Hemsky, though.

Carolina is looking to trade defensemen Bryan Allen and Jaroslav Spacek, but Tuomo Ruutu is now hurt and is likely staying put.

Looking good for DadThe Ottawa Senators are 5-0-1 all-time on father-son trips; to put that in perspective, the Wild was 0-2 this year and outscored 9-2.

"I guess it's the fear of the fathers," Senators center Jason Spezza said.
