FOND DU LAC, Wis. — Union members at Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac have agreed to a labor contract extension.

The International Association of Machinists Lodge 1947 approved the 5-year extension Sunday. WLUK-TV (http://bit.ly/1GHnjB5 ) says the agreement includes wage increases, ratification bonuses and wellness initiatives.

The economy and reduced sales five years ago had Mercury Marine talking about moving manufacturing to Oklahoma. Union concessions and incentives from local and state governments convinced the company to stay in Wisconsin.

Local union representative Benito Elizondo says rebuilding the relationship between IAM and Mercury Marine is an ongoing process, but ratification of the extension is a step in the right direction.

The company employs 2,800 at its Fond du Lac headquarters.
