After much rumor and speculation, Melissa McCarthy will return for the "Gilmore Girls" revival after all.

The actress made the announcement during an appearance on "Ellen," which is set to debut on Friday.

"There has been something that I have been asked about so, so many times and it hasn't worked out and there is… they're making four new movies of the 'Gilmore Girls' which is a show which was near and dear to my heart for four years and we could not get those schedules to work," she said. "And there was a whole thing. And then I was gonna be out of the country and blah, blah, blah. And literally about an hour and half ago we figured out that I'm gonna go back and do it and I am so excited. And they are gonna be amazing."

Previously, McCarthy maintained she would not be returning for the revival of the show on which she played Lorelai Gilmore's (Lauren Graham) best friend Sookie.

The new series, which is untitled, will be produced by Dorothy Parker Drank Here Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.

McCarthy's movie career has exploded since her "Gilmore Girls" days, and she'll next be seen in this week's "The Boss," as well as this summer's "Ghostbusters" reboot. She is represented by CAA and MGMT.
