Melendez stepping down as DFL chair

"I'm ready to come up for air," he tells party activists.

In the wake of the loss of both houses of the Minnesota Legislature, leavened by the election of the first DFL governor in a generation, party chair Brian Melendez announced Friday that he won't run for another term.

Melendez, an attorney at Faegre and Benson, has served in the position since 2005. Here's Melendez' e-mail, sent to members of the DFL Central Committee:
