Road construction on Flying Cloud Drive is still at least a year away, but an open house Tuesday will give Eden Prairie and Chanhassen residents and business owners more details about what to expect.

Hennepin County, Carver County, Eden Prairie and Chanhassen are holding an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday to give the community more information about the project. The Dec. 10 open house, the third one this year, will take place at Eden Prairie City Hall.

Construction for the three-year project is slated to start in 2015 and continue through 2017 from Hwy. 101 in Chanhassen to Charlson Road. Crews will rebuild the two lanes and add shoulders, a left-turn lane, right-turn lanes at key intersections and a multiuse trail on the north side of the road.

The county, which is also meeting with homeowners along the corridor, says the estimated $40 million to $45 million project will make the road safer and reduce flooding damage from the Minnesota River.
