Medical examiner IDs 3-year-old killed in ATV crash

The Midwest Medical Examiner's Office finished its investigation Thursday into the death of a 3-year-old boy after a parked ATV tipped over on top of him this week.

Landon Erickson was identified by the medical examiner after family confirmed the toddler's death earlier this week. The boy had wandered outside his rural Franconia Township home Sunday and was trying to move a child's-size ATV used by his 7-year-old brother off a slope when it rolled on top of him, the boy's family said.

No one witnessed the incident, which was reported to the Chisago County Sheriff's Office. The family tried to revive the boy, but he was pronounced dead at Osceola Medical Center in Wisconsin. The medical examiner ruled the cause of death was asphyxia due to chest compression.

A fund has been set up to help the toddler's family. To donate, go to gofundme.com/r84hg8g.
