A medical emergency is suspected in a crash southeast of Prior Lake that left the driver dead.

The wreck occurred about 3:50 p.m. Tuesday in Credit River Township on Eagle Creek Avenue near the intersection of Pheasant Ridge Road, the Scott County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.

The driver of the SUV was identified as Monica A. Hill, 56, of St. Charles, Minn. Emergency responders declared Hill dead at the scene.

Hill was heading west on Eagle Creek Avenue, crossed the centerline, went into a ditch and hit several trees, the Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

"It is suspected that Hill possibly suffered a medical emergency and lost control of the vehicle before the crash," the statement read.

"We offer our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the victim during this difficult time," said Sheriff Luke Hennen. "We are also thankful that nobody else was injured in this incident."
