"A Prairie Home Companion" has announced details of its now-annual Street Dance & Meatloaf Dinner, taking place Saturday, Sept. 25, outside the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul following the taping of Season 37's kickoff show inside. Garrison Keillor will be there to host the festivities, of course, which will include live music by Texas honky-tonk purists the Derailers, Rob Fischer & the White Bear Lake Yacht Club Orchestra and Guy's All-Star Shoe Band along with contests and other fun do-dads, plus the $5 meatloaf supper. The outdoor bash is free and goes from 7-10 p.m. Tickets are still available for the broadcast inside ($32-$48).

The season premiere happens to coincide with the F. Scott Fitzgerald Birthday Weekend Bash (it would've been his 114th), plus this year marks the 100th anniversary of the St. Paul theater eventually named in his honor, all of which are bringing 250 avid fans of ol' Fitz to town. There will be four more regular tapings of "APHC" at the Fitzgerald after this: Oct. 2, 9, 16 and 30. There will also be a special live "Cinecast" performance from the theater shown in movie houses across the country on Oct. 21. I don't think Hank done it this way, but that's how Garrison rolls nowadays.
