Because some maintenance work is being done on the Target Center's main court, and with too much dust in the practice facility because of construction there, the Lynx practiced Tuesday at Minneapolis Community and Technical College.
First, the news: Center Janel McCarville, who turned an ankle late in Sunday's overtime victory over Connecticut, was moving well. She was able to do some non-contact work and do some things individually. Coach Cheryl Reeve said she expects McCarville to play Friday when the Lynx play at Tulsa.
Here are some other nuggets from today's practice:
--She only scored four points, but the 18-plus minutes second-year point guard Lindsey Moore played Sunday against Connecticut might have been her best WNBA performance, according to coach Cheryl Reeve.
"She had a couple of very good games last year, but this game, she was thrown into the hornet's nest and she responded."
Moore got so many minutes because starter Lindsay Whalen was struggling during regulation. Moore was in the game for the run that started late in the third quarter and into the fourth that turned a 14-point deficit into a two-point Lynx lead. She had three assists and two steals.
--With three players coming off knee surgeries, Reeve has given her healthy players a nickname: the Nasty Nine, which was born in the wake of Sunday's gritty come-from-behind win.
