The Twins have confirmed that catcher Joe Mauer is headed to Fort Myers, Fla., where he will continue his rehabilitation. From what? He's on the disabled list with bilateral leg weakness, but we have learned since Apr. 14 that he's been battling other things as well, like shoulder weakness, knee, etc..

There is no timetable as to when he will starting playing in extended spring training games. But it's a signal that he's progressed enough to, at least, take the next step in his recovery.

Mauer will head to Florida on Tuesday and start workouts on Wednesday.

Mauer, is another great piece by our Jim Souhan, talked about what he's been going through lately.

Mauer, a couple days earlier, revealed that he took a trip to the Mayo Clinic for several tests.

Will check back later with lineups and updates.

UPDATES: Justin Morneau stayed back in the Twin Cities to have his sore neck and shoulder checked out. He's been cleared to play and is expected to arrive at the park in time to be the designated hitter.

It's the same area that has bothered Morneau for many months. He had a cortisone shot in the area earlier this season.

REHAB WATCH!!!!!

Jim Thome (left oblique) got four at-bats in a simulated game on Monday and will play in an extended spring training game on Tuesday.

Jason Repko (right quad) has been sent to Class AAA Rochester to a rehab assignment. He'll meet the team at Gwinett County.

Tsuyoshi Nishioka (broken left fibula) is able to do some running now but there still is no timetable for him to start playing in games.

The Twins will display Harmon Killebrew's No. 3 in the dugout on road games too, including this series.

On another sad note, former Royals pitcher Paul Splittorff is losing the battle with throat cancer.
