The most unabashed liberal candidate -- and 1994 unsuccessful DFL gubernatorial nominee -- pushes "progressive values."

Roseville Sen. John Marty, the last of the major candidates to speak at the convention -- and the most unabashed liberal -- addressed the delegates by pushing his campaign theme of "ethical leadership" and dismissing the notion that a DFLer has to move to the center politically to win.

Marty urged delegates to reject Republican Gov Tim Pawlenty's attempt to portray "progressive values" as outdated. "Main Street Minnesota wants the same thing we do," said Marty, who drew loud applause for his pledge not to take campaign money from lobbyists.
