NASHVILLE - It's not the winter meetings if agents aren't privately grumbling about the lack of suitable offers.
That's what's happening again this year, as some agents are wondering when the Twins will step up with offers for their free agent starting pitchers. Teams might be waiting for a pitcher to sign elsewhere to figure out what the market is. Twins GM Terry Ryan said he doesn't operate that way.
"All of a sudden, if you think that's the market, we don't," he said. "If you have sincere interest on both sides, eventually you'll settle on something."
Some here believe that mega free agent Zack Greinke is holding up the market and other pitchers will sign once he lands somewhere.

• One rumor floating around the Opryland Hotel is that the Yankees are interested in free agent catcher A.J. Pierzynski.
• Manager Ron Gardenhire is looking forward to seeing Chris Parmelee in the lineup more now that there's a spot for him in right field. "He's learned to get his pitch, and when he gets it, drive it," Gardenhire said. "He's fun to watch."
