Man shot in downtown Minneapolis apartment; injuries 'potentially fatal'

A man hospitalized after being shot in a downtown Minneapolis apartment is not expected to survive, authorities said.

The shooting occurred about 9:10 p.m. Wednesday in the 1400 block of Portland Avenue, police said.

The victim, a 34-year-old man, was hospitalized at Hennepin County Medical Center. His identity has yet to be released.

"The victim is in extremely critical condition with potentially fatal injuries," police spokeswoman Darcy Horn said Saturday.

Two people are in jail but have yet to be charged as the investigation continues. The Star Tribune generally does not name suspects before charges.

Police have yet to reveal the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
